Your Career in 2007 Get a Fresh Start

As the New Year approaches, have you thought about your career goals? What worked to years ago in planning and managing your career will not work for your career development in the 21st Century. Managing your career in the 21st Century requires preparation, career goal planning and career guidance and ensuring that your time is directed meaningfully.

Here is how to find enjoyment and continue to progress in your career.

1. Determine if your present job is in line with who you are, what you value, and what you are good at. Are you really doing what you want to do? Being self-aware means you become clear about what you stand for and what you have to offer. When you know what you have to offer, you become more powerful and intentional in your work. Doing a good job is no longer good enough to guarantee your career will go well. You are your most important asset. Self-branding provides direction and clarity of purpose for how you work, not just what you do for a living.

2. Identify your job satisfiers and dissatisfiers. Find a way to do more of the tasks/projects that you enjoy.

3. Identify your accomplishments.

4. Take the time to build and maintain relationship with individuals who might impact your work. You will benefit personally and professionally from the time you invest in such relationships.

5. Determine and write down your vision for your professional life. What actions do you need to take that will get you there? Celebrate the steps you take daily to achieve your vision. You can create the life you want! Here are some ways you can do that:

* Keep work in perspective - remember how you left work on time in the summer?

* Manage your stress - identify what causes you stress and how it affects you.

* Take time out - close your door (if you have one), call forward your phone, turn off your e-mail, take a walk. Use this time "during your work day" to prepare for a big meeting, a presentation or work on a project.

* Delegate - are you spending too much time on the administrative process of your job and not utilizing your skills to benefit your long-term goals and your company's goals?

* Work/Play Balance - what did you enjoy doing during the summer that you want to continue (going to the movies, playing tennis, volunteering, spending time with your kids, seeing friends, etc.)? Put it on your schedule.

6. Be Bold! Dont be afraid to take on some responsibilities in positions above you. Aim to always exceed expectations.

7. Manage your own time. Set boundaries. Learn to say "no" to non-essential use of your time.

8. Look for way to do things better, and more efficiently. Change a routine task - develop a new process. Instead of handling your e-mails as you get them, set aside specific times during the day to respond.

9. Be great at what you do. The knowledge and skill that create success in your current job will position you for your next move.

10.Be aware of roadblocks that can limit your potential to move upward.

11.Take on projects that will most likely benefit you.

12.Have passion for what you are doing and working toward. You will automatically put more effort into it. If you are not feeling passionate about your work ask yourself: is what you should be doing interfering with what you want to be doing?

Remember! Your career must contribute to your life, not the other way around!

The Magic Move to Being in Business

Lots of entrepreneurs that I speak to spend a lot of time "being busy." They're attending meetings, answering emails and a ton of activity that fills up their schedule. They have great ideas in the middle of it all, but are so overwhelmed they fall into "productivity paralysis" and are just plain perplexed about how to really get to that next level. There's a magic move to being productive and profitable in business that no one is talking about.

Before we get to the "Magic Move," we have to first acknowledge that as an Entrepreneur you should always be striving to work on your business rather than just in your business. You open up the energy around this by setting up systems. This approach allows you to be set up for growth and actually implement all those fabulous ideas you have. For example, if you're an acupuncturist instead of only treating patients all day you can explore ways to treat and reach more people at once-leveraging your time and your income. Strong systems in your business operations will create that space. I have entrepreneurs I coach who either set up or strengthen their systems as a must. For the sake of this article, we accept that as a given. Now, step into the magic move-the one that has you in joy with everything you're doing, rather than just trying to catch your breath and stay one step ahead (or filing you your time with "stuff" because you secretly feel lost about what to do next).

Often, I've found that even when you have the tightest of systems, you can find yourself feeling like something is missing. Your energy is a bit blah and you don't feel jazzed to create. Even though the systems are crankin', you feel stuck. Just about every time I hear this from an entrepreneur, I know the magic move is missing; there isn't anywhere in the systems that allows for time to just be. Incorporating this move makes all the difference in the world and it's the one that is most resisted (including myself at times). Interesting, right?

Let's get clear about exactly what I mean by "time to just be." I'm not talking about time to watch TV or be with family and friends-although this is important and should be part of your systems, too. I'm talking about time to really connect to that part of yourself which is a direct connection to divine, inspired action. These are the ideas, solutions, and "how tos" that cannot be conceived of, created, or tapped into when you are busy "doing" and "going 24-7." And it's the powerful, magic move that no one in business is talking about. Frankly, I believe it's because they're scared to.

Traditional business doesn't operate from a place of stillness. The battle cry is, "if you're not in motion, you're losing money!" Meanwhile, money is being left on the table everywhere because folks are rushing by and too busy to see it. Even all the latest buzz about the Law of Attraction is filled with insistence to, "use this tool, this exercise, this strategy." Be sure to understand, these are very helpful, but the point of them is often lost; to bring us to that deep place of knowing that comes from being able to be.

Every time I've coached a client around this magic move more money has appeared. I have one client who just created $4,500 in a half day. The inspiration to pursue this means would never have appeared had she just still been going, going, going. It works.

Call To Action:

Start by scheduling some "be" time. Just take it and see what happens.

Write down anything that comes to you.

Let it go and then return to it a week later. Mark what that experience is like (you might be surprised what happened in the week between!).

The Pleasure Of Transforming Your Hobby Into Your Profession

If a hobby is a spare-time recreational pursuit, could you count the number of hobbies you have practiced over the past or you are still pursuing now and then that have given you some kind of return apart from the psychological one? In case you can identify even one, then you probably already know all there is to know about the pleasure of having a hobby as a profession. But if your hobby list is empty, or you are unsure if one of the things you are doing or have done during your free time could be categorized as a hobby turned into a profession, then you should better invest some time in reading the text that follows.

First of all, you should know that hobbies are practiced due to a person's interest on something and for the enjoyment that hobby can bring to the individual, rather than for financial reward that can result from the outcome of someone's efforts. Whether you are a collector, a crafter, a sports fun, or a painter, engaging in a hobby can lead you to acquiring a certain set of skills and advance substantially your capabilities, knowledge-base and experiences. But remember that these outcomes are directly related to the personal fulfillment a person receives from practicing the hobby of his or her choice.

Second, you probably are familiar with the phrase that says "The person that has turned his hobby into his profession is a happy one." It is true that for a number of reasons, more and more people have turned their hobby or hobbies into their daily occupations and those that have done so, state that this decision has dramatically changed their life towards the better. They advice others to do the same and they do have a point, if one considers that the person who uses his or her skills to earn a living actually practices something he or she loves doing. For example, if you have been receiving compliments for your cooking or pastry skills, from a variety of people, perhaps you should consider a career in that field. If you love computers and you spend every single minute experimenting in computer languages or playing computer games, then maybe a career of that sort could fit better your type. But generally speaking, a person who does something for fun and not remuneration is called an amateur or a hobbyist, as distinct from a professional.

But finally, in order to determine which hobbies you practice could become your future career paths, you should better examine how easy it is to make a living from your leisure and recreational activities. For example, very few people can live from stamp collection, but many find it enjoyable. A lot of people like to observe and study the stars, but few have actually invested in this hobby and became astronomers. But a number of people who enjoyed traveling and writing have become journalists, or others who preferred cooking than dinning out have turned their passion into a flourishing business venture. Regardless if others find your hobby trivial or boring, you should invest some time in examining whether it has been ever introduced as a type of career. Even if not, do not get discouraged. People always find new ways to explore their entrepreneurship and business usually evolve just based on an idea. If you add on this equation talent, skill, and determination, you most probably have a winner. Whether you are an amateur writer or a painter, give it a shot and who knows? Maybe the next Hemingway or Picasso is you!

10 Things To Think About When Considering Frontpage Web Hosting

Its not hard to find Frontpage Web Hosting. Just do a google search and youre likely to find hundreds of sites that provide it. But there are some things that youll want to look for and consider.

1) What version of Frontpage are you using? This is important because Frontpage features are implemented through the use of Frontpage Extensions and those extensions are different between each version. So youll need to make sure that the Frontpage Host you select supports the Frontpage extensions for your particular version.

2) Do you really need a site that supports Frontpage extensions? This may seem strange, but youll find that there are two primary hosting types; Linux based and Windows based. The Linux based hosts are generally a bit cheaper than Windows based hosting. If you have no plans to take advantage of Frontpage extensions, and youre only using Frontpage to create HTML documents, then regular Linux hosting will do fine.

3) Dont use Frontpage Extensions if you really dont have to. These extensions will give you the ability to do creative things (flashing text, calanders, etc) that dont really add value to your website. Consider this risk as Microsoft updates its software, they may change a Frontpage extension in such a way that your websites may not work. If this happens, you would have to rewrite your web page with updated references to extensions to make it work again.

4) Is the host reliable? There are literally THOUSANDS of Frontpage Web Hosting providers on the market. All you need to set up a web host business is a Windows based server and an Internet connection. You, the home users, really have no idea if the host is reliable or not. For this reason, its a good idea to check Frontpage hosting providers ratings before making a selection. Use a service like:

http://www.webhostingratings.com/ or http://www.hostcompare.com/showcases/frontpage.html

5) How long do they want you to sign up for? Typically, a web host will have a monthly contract with price breaks if you prepay for longer terms. You dont have to be crazy and buy 5 years. 1 year will do. Also, along with your Frontpage hosting account, youre going to have to purchase a domain name. Generally, I do this through the same company, but you dont have to do it this way. For example, on occasion, a domain name registrar called RegisterFly will offer .info domains for as little as .60 per year. Normally you would expect to pay about $5.00 per year, so this is a great discount. Ive purchased hundreds of domains through RegisterFly and am very happy with them.

6) Does your Frontpage Web Host have a simple to use web front end for administering your site? This makes things much easier. You will undoubtedly be creating a directory structure, uploading files, changing file permissions, etc, while you develop your site. Having a convenient web based portal for administering these changes makes things nice.

7) How many e-mail accounts will your Frontpage Web Host provide? Normally this is a non-issue, but if youre setting up a website for a business and they need e-mail addresses to go along with their web hosting service, then youll want to confirm that enough e-mail addresses are provided by the host. Lately, Ive noticed this number going up and up and up. A few years ago, 5 e-mail addresses was normal. Now, Ill get hundreds per domain (which I never use).

8) How much space will your Frontpage Web Host provide? Again, this number is going up and up and up. But dont be caught off guard. Make sure they will provide enough space for your needs. Typically, youll see 100 MB or so for cheaper accounts. Unless you have a vast database that will be part of your site, this is generally more than enough.

9) Will your Frontpage Web Host put a cap on the amount of bandwidth you can consume? If you expect to get lots of visitors to your website, make sure your hosting provide will supply the bandwidth. I recently ran into a problem with on of my accounts because a graphics intensive page was referenced by a very popular authority site, I consumed my allotted bandwidth for the month, in 2 days. They kept my account operations, but I had to pay extra for the bandwidth consumption. Other sites have been turned off due to excessive bandwidth consumption.

10) Finally, will your Frontpage Web Host allow you to register domain names privately? This is a feature of Domain Registration where your private information remains private. When someone performs a Whois on your domain, they would see the contact information for the web host. This is nice if you plan to put up many, many sites and want to avoid any spam.

I would say that choosing a Frontpage Web Host is only slightly more difficult than choosing a Linux Host. If you check some of those review sites that I mentioned above, you can be confident that youll find a Frontpage host that will provide excellent service to you. You can find out more about Frontpage Web Hosting here -> http://www.frontpagewebhosting-site.info

Charles Waters has been developing web sites for several years as part of his Affiliate Marketing strategy. In the beginning, he used Frontpage extensively, but over the last few years has migrated to the cheaper, more ubiquitous Linux hosting. How To Select A Successful Affiliate Marketing Company

Affiliate marketing has become one of the most popular methods to make money on the internet. There is thousands of affiliate marketing companies to choose from, which gives you the ability to become an affiliate for a company based around your website. Another advantage to affiliate marketing is the ability to be an affiliate for a number of companies, not just one. So how do you go about selecting a successful affiliate marketing company?

It is wise to select an affiliate marketing company that has to do with your website. Odds are your website is something that interests you, so make sure you select a program that is of interest to you. This will make it much easier to promote and sell something if you have an interest in it.

After you know what type of affiliate marketing company you want to target and promote, you need to research A LOT about the various programs out there. Dig deep and find out what makes one program better than the others. To start you should look at the surface of the company. Ask yourself if it looks professional and if you would buy from them yourself. Does the company know the product and promote it strongly themselves? These are all signs of a successful company from the surface.

Everyone is in affiliate marketing to make money. So the next step is to find the programs that pay out the best and offer the most residual income. It is recommended that you look for a program that pays out no less than 40% of your sales. There are thousands of programs to choose from, so make sure your efforts are being rewarded with a high pay out.

Once you know how much you can make from a specific affiliate marketing company, look into whether or not the company provides you with tools and resources to promote the product. The only way you can be successful in affiliate marketing is if you sell the product, which makes it all the more crucial to have tools to promote the product.

Lastly, it is vital that the affiliate marketing company you select has a place to check your stats. Not only do you need to be able to check your stats, but you need to be able to check them 24 hours a day. After all, the internet never sleeps so why should the stat checking system sleep. If you dont know how youre doing, how are you going to be able to stay motivated?

Selecting the perfect affiliate marketing company for you can be difficult since there are so many choices. However, if you put in the effort to research and learn a little bit about some of the options, you should have no problem selecting a winner. Just remember, there is nothing saying you cant be involved with multiple affiliate marketing programs at once.

Why Software Development Teams Often Fail To Get It Right

Read the following sentence carefully; twice if you need to. Then make sure you don't fall off the chair laughing once you realize that this is often EXACTLY what the average client ends up trying to convey after they finish reading the first set of project specifications! Only the words are different.

"I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."

And so it goes with the software development process. That's why all of the truly successful software development teams rely upon creating and presenting visual prototypes, including screen shots or screen mockups, in an effort to improve communications between all parties.

And let's not put all of the blame on the client for failing to understand what was said during the requirements gathering process. The opportunity to "get it wrong" exists between team members, between the team and the actual users, and between the team and the project's major stakeholders.

While we all agree that using visual prototypes represent the best opportunity for reducing project risk at the design phase, creating those visual prototypes can actually involve a level of effort that's nearly equal to the development phase, depending upon the size of the project and the number of screens involved.

To make matters worse, many top-notch software development teams don't have system analysts on board. The task of developing the requirements often falls to the programmer who has the best communication skills and who is capable of making themselves understood by mere mortals who speak an entirely different language.

But even those communication skills are not enough to ensure that what the client is asking for closely resembles what the development team is planning on building.

And that brings us back to the subject of visual screen prototype tools. These tools have a lot in common with the fairy tale of Goldilocks and The Three Bears.

Some of them are too hard to use. Some of them are too expensive to use, and some of them are too inflexible. It's hard to find the one that's "just right."

But all of that may be about to change thanks to a new visual prototype tool called MockupScreens. And although it was designed BY a software development team FOR software development teams, you'd think it was designed by Goldilocks herself because they got it "just right."

MockupScreens flattens the learning curve for creating visual prototypes. ANYONE can use this tool, and you don't have to know a thing about drawing.

The level of effort required to build rich, robust and 100% actual depictions of the software is less than it takes to point and click your way through a basic PowerPoint presentation. But the results are far more spectacular, and much more realistic, because all of the users and team members see actual screens that look just as they will when they are actually created by the development team.

If you already use a prototyping tool to deliver your screen, the chances are it falls into one of these categories:

1. It requires a great deal of input before it can create screens.

2. It's complicated to use and there are only one or two members of your development team that can make it perform properly.

3. It comes wrapped up in expensive annual licensing fees and support contracts that make you wince every time you renew.

Or, worse, you're using some "draw" program to create your screens manually.

If any of the above scenarioes sound familiar to you, then you really need to check out MockupScreens. Not only does the one-time license fee cost about the same as a week's worth of "Venti, no room" at Starbucks for your development team, but it's drop-dead easy to use as well.

In fact, MockupScreens is the fastest, easiest and least expensive way to get all of the users and your development team nodding their heads at the same time and actually being confident that they are all agreeing to the same thing!

It's probably the best way to eliminate most all of the project risk that occurs at the specifications and design phase.

The development teams that put MockupScreens together went out of their way to model the program after the simple process of manually sketching screens on paper.

MockUpScreens works hard to avoid distracting users with unnecessary details by depicting all of the screens in black and white so users stay focused on important things and don't get distracted by colors and the like.

But if you want to kick it up a notch, you can. MockupScreens gives you the capability to add comments, icons, questions and other elements right into the drawings. You can hide these elements from the users, and make them visible only to other development team members if you want to, or you can let it all hang out. It's your choice.

You can even hold the room spellbound by having MockupScreens generate slide shows that will take the users through each screen exactly as they will appear when the system goes live.

Because MockupScreens is so easy to use, you can make changes to the screens in response to user input, in real time, and continue right on with the meeting. Features like that are what raises your visibility and enhances your professional image in the eyes of the client.

But as I mentioned already, probably the best part of using MockupScreens is that you don't have to be an artist to use it. Heck, you don't even have to be a programmer. All you do is boot up MockupScreens and it's all gravy from there.

The keyboard shortcuts are intelligently designed and there's context-sensitive help wherever you need it (even though you probably never will need it).

Additional options such as an automatic screen resizing feature that automatically adjusts the screen whenever new elements are added, free you up to focus on functionality and not design.

Real-world tests with brand new MockUpScreens users consistently show that it's a snap to create as many as 5 screens in about 10 minutes! Try doing that with whatever it is you're using now.

MockupScreens is going to make you and every member of your design team heros in the eyes of your clients. And if you don't believe me, download the eval version at http://www.MockupScreens.com and see for yourself!

Igor Jese works in software development since 1990s, with emphasis on software requirements and development methodology. He is a certified Software Requirements Expert and the author of Mockup Screens, a popular tool for quick GUI prototyping: http://www.MockupScreens.comMarni Blog61584

Look Before You Leap

Every day, more and more people are becoming ever increasingly discontented with the daily rat race, and direct their interest to starting a home-based business.

For most people, once this threshold is reached, the desire to start working from home is so overpowering that they become vulnerable to making poor choices in the opportunity they eventually embrace.

As a result, most fail miserably, and its not usually through lack of determination, but several other reasons that can be responsible for their dream turning into a nightmare. It is the dream of staying at home, and enjoying the kids growing up, of working your own hours, of extra money, and of financial freedom. A worthy goal.

In the past, there have been many work at home opportunities banded about. Multi-level business opportunities selling everything from personal care, cosmetics, jewellery, hardware, to vitamins and even electrical goods. There have been the mail order catalogue opportunities, and the party plans. These opportunities have made people money, and the rare few wealthy, but they have also cost a lot of people a great deal of wasted time, money and effort.

One of the reasons is inexperience. People have spent years developing the qualifications and skills for their day job, but expect to start a home business and become wealthy almost overnight. Its a well known fact that over 50% of all new small businesses fail in the first year, and 95% fail within the first five years, and were not talking about home-based business here, were talking about all small businesses.

Inexperienced people join MLMs, (good companies like Amway), while others join money making schemes after attending a meeting somewhere, and yet all these people expect to succeed within a few months and become wealthy. What they dont realise is that it takes time to succeed, and as with any business, investment.

Financial investment and time investment.

If you go by facts and figures, the statistics are against them. They are against any new small business venture, but especially against some home-based opportunities, because the very nature of the business has people working long hours, often door to door for little profit. People end up burned out, tired, frustrated, and quit feeling very guilty because they are told such things as Winners never quit.

Why become part of a work at home opportunity that is like a regular job?

Another reason people fail is because they are told it is only temporary. If you build your network, and duplicate yourself they are told, you will soon have enough volume that you wont have to work as hard, and you will have a recurring monthly income. So some people plod on and on becoming more and more disillusioned as their people quit after a few months. Its usually the people who have some of the necessary skills already that manage to forge ahead, and unfortunately many of those who havent, just havent the time or the money to gather those skills. Some will make it, and some will excel, but the majority of them will just quit.

When you base your future income on the efforts of others, its a two edged sword. It cuts both ways, but like any sword it usually cuts better on the down stroke.

Another reason that many businesses fail is they offer products that nobody really wants. To put it another way, there is not a strong market for the product. John Paul Gettys formula for making money was, find a product that is needed, find a product that is consumable, find a product that is affordable, find a product that is guaranteed to work, and then sell it. If you were selling cold soft drinks, would you rather sell them on a cold winters day or on a sunny hot summer afternoon at the beach?

If JP Getty were alive today, I guess he would add another qualification, that the people behind the product or service have a proven track record of success, and are not simply out to take peoples money and run.

The problem is many of the home-business opportunities out there today that are not so good, have promotions that sound every bit as good as anyone elses. If you are looking for a home-based business opportunity, decide what you want from it, and then examine it carefully. Check with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, and the internet scam warning web sites for information. Run a Google search for company name + scam. Go to www.mlmwatchdog.com and check there.

Be extremely wary of any opportunity that wants a large purchase up front. Many of these opportunities show you cheques of hundreds of dollars earned within a few weeks to entice you to join. In many cases it is because the new member has been persuaded to pay a large amount up front for a never to be repeated introductory offer.

Be wary of money schemes on the internet that appear to be just that. They spring up on a weekly basis, just as fast as the authorities can shut them down. Many people have invested reasonable sums of money and watched their online earning grow, only for the company to be shut down before they can get their money out.

So are all opportunities set to fail?

Not at all.

There are many ways to make money from home, but perhaps more now than ever, the best way forward is still the Internet.

Why?

Because the business of Internet Marketing can be taught. There are many successful people online who have started with nothing and built businesses turning over from many thousands of dollars monthly, to millions of dollars yearly over a decade or more.

2006 has been a booming year for Internet Marketers. There has been a phenomenal amount of high quality training information released by top internet earners.

An internet business can be fully automated. It is possible to do the work by spending weeks not months, setting up systems, (or having them set up for you), to have your web site and your computer sell for you unattended, and for the first time ever this goal is within the reach of ordinary people to achieve by learning from people with proven track records of success from the convenience of their own home, at a pace, and at a time convenient to them.

There are many areas of Internet Marketing that you can choose from, Ebay, Affiliate Marketing (selling someone elses product or service), information products, software products, training (audio and video).

No, its not a get rich quick scheme, and no its not an automatic guarantee of success because people are people, and believe it or not approximately 50% of people who buy teaching courses dont open the cover, or only get as far as the first couple of chapters. But with a high quality training course, that will take you by the hand and lead you step by step with written training material, and both audio and video training from a company with a proven track record over a number of years, there is no reason why the average person can not make a nice income from the internet.

For example, Inspiration Point and 6M Profit Method headed by Lisa Diane, a business woman who thirteen years ago started from scratch, and who developed a closely guarded marketing blueprint to success, which she uses to generate millions of dollars annually, brought her expertise to the internet in the last few years. In the last few months she has opened her secret blueprint for success to the masses, and founded the 6M community where people who have bought her training program, backed by her proven track record and personal commitment, can get ongoing training, and frequently her personal advice for as long as they remain a member of the community.

What is it you really want from a home business?

What is your focus?

Whatever your choice, make it an informed one!

Frustration Abounds Looking For Elusive Success

In all of my fairly long time on this marvelous planet, with all of the joys and tragedies through which I and my family have lived, I could never have imagined the utter frustration I would encounter in the unfortunate folks trying to make a living online! IT IS ALMOST PALPABLE.

Why? Why is it that every day, in every way, no one that I come across seems to be able to feel a sense of satisfaction in what they are trying to accomplish?

The answer, it seems to me, is a simple as it is sad. There is no one telling the thousands of struggling marketers out there that what they are trying to accomplish will require a great deal of work.

Worse still, there is an expectation foisted upon these bright and shiny faces of "instant riches with no effort and no experience." I know of nothing in my vast experience that could cause failure to be more likely than this kind of ill-addvised, inaccurate and mostly untrue nonsense. Claiming to make anyone an instant millionaire is bad enough. doing so while combining it with the promise of "2 hours a week'" is a prescription to setting failure in motion.

If not already bad enough, it is also to be believed that we can not only make instant riches, in as little as 2 hours a week, but we can do so with utterly no experience!

In mathematical terms. the equation would look something like this:

Promise #1 + Promise #2 + Promise #3 = CERTAIN FAILURE!!

An article like this can be of value if only to encourage new marketers to believe in themselves. To know, with certainty, that anything worth doing is worth working toward and that they are seriously mislead if they believe that they and they alone are unable to get rich instantly while sunning on a beach having driven there in a brand new Porche!

Take a deep breath. Revive your self esteem from the battering it is taking. You are neither stupid nor alone. The answer to your desire to succeed online is no different than it would be in anyother prosperity effort. It will require work. It will require patience. It will require, if not experience, then learning. And sometimes, as in my own case, the learning curve will seem more like a learning circle. Again, in mathematical terms it looks like this:

Hard Work + Perseverence + Training + Focus = SUCCESS

Don't let anyone tell you any differently. Trust in yourself. Do the work. Apply the best of who you are and get to where you want to be - the journey will be slower than you'd wish. Do not give up or give in.

There are various genius Marketing Masters who are more than willing to share their knowledge (often for free or for reasonable costs) and I am happy to say, I have been very fortunate in striking gold with such mentors. Without their coaching, although a positive person at heart, I may well have believed that I am failing where others are not. Take comfort in knowing that they are out there and can be found through people just like me, who feel your pain and want to help make it better.

Bad Credit Unsecured Loan Despite, Financial Respite

It is the changing nature of man that he is susceptible to forget things in between. It happens more often than not, of taking various loans as per ones requirements; the man defers repayments due to lacking financial planning. Or, there are some who wish not to place any thing, still for availing a loan. For, the lending authority has configured a bad credit unsecured loan. This loan is offered without any sort of security placing.

Although, provisioning contains credit evaluation and borrowers repayment capacity and capability, owing to many lenders in money market for this loan gives a good attention to has shortened the processing time of the bad credit unsecured loan.

How To Leverage Your Ebook Income

A common product to many marketing offers is an ebook, but not all ebooks are created equal. Once an ebook is written it can be sold or given away to promote another product or product line. Content can be written by you, or written by a ghostwriter for you, or you can purchase private label rights [PLR] on an existing ebook that you can modify, re-title and re-brand.

Ebooks are a good way to add value to a promotion. If you have written a new ebook then you can pick up some PLR ebooks to complement and increase the value of your offer.

Many of the ebooks bundled with promotions deliver content in ways that leave room for significant improvement. For example, some of the obvious features of a book are table of contents, headers or footers with page numbers, chapters with titles and sometimes sub-titles. If any of these hallmarks are missing from an ebook, then it can be improved.

If your product is too short to include the main traits of a book listed above, the terms booklet, report, or special report can be just as effective for promotion. Conversely, you can abstract content from PLR books or articles to supplement your project.

Although professional software and its use are essential to competitive advantage, it is not that expensive to hire a professional to package for you. Both money and time can be saved with a bit of planning to optimize your ebook profit potential. For the same price of some ebooks, you can purchase your own ebook income generator package from h4h.biz. The difference is how and how much money is returned to you on your investment.

As a professional packager I am always upgrading my software and skills. Like anyone who wants to earn income, there is a learning curve to the tools of the trade. On the internet, it includes the hardware, software, and skills in their use that determines how well your business performs in your market niche or sub-niche. Although software is a common denominator, how it is used is as different as the people using it.

There are a many good reasons to hire someone else to do a job better, sooner, or just get it done. For example, I am not a bookkeeper but I do have the same software as my bookkeeper. I know enough about using it to generate reports, but the rest I pay her to do. On the other hand, Im a graphics specialist that uses most of the professional software on a daily basis. I manage my projects by sub-contracting surplus work to freelancers. This enables me to do as much work that comes my way while managing continual development of my business systems.

In my experience it is important to learn as much as you feel comfortable with about the tools of the trade because even if you dont use them on a daily basis yourself, you place yourself in the position of being a well informed buyer that understands enough of the technical jargon to make an informed purchase.

When I taught at the Pre-Press Institute, I would break the learning curve into lecture, lab, and experience. The lecture was a combination of reading to prepare, then watching and interacting in a demonstration. The lab time was spent learning how to do-it-yourself with immediate feedback to questions as they were asked. I explained experience as the combination of learning to learn, practice without the lab feedback, and on-the-job feedback from colleagues or clients. I have adapted many features of this training model for internet delivery. It is now available by membership to my online project workspace. It is just a few clicks away.

The Real Details of Getting Rich with The Secret Affiliate Program

Overview

The Secret Science of Getting Rich Seminar is a comprehensive training program based on the original classic "The Science of Getting Rich" written by Wallace D. Wattles in 1910. What is the Science of Getting Rich about? Well in the words of Wallace D. Wattles, "The ownership of money and property comes as a result of doing things in a certain way. Those who do things in this certain way, whether on purpose or accidentally, get rich. Those who do not do things in this certain way, no matter how hard they work or how able they are, remain poor. It is a natural law that like causes always produce like effects. Therefore, any man or woman who learns to do things in this certain way will infallibly get rich." The Secret Science of Getting Rich Seminar is all about teaching how to do things in this "certain" way to create wealth.

The Secret SGR Seminar includes the original text from Wallace D. Wattless classic "The Science of Getting Rich" and substantial additions of concepts presented by 3 of the leader teachers and new - thought leaders of our time - namely Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield and Michael Beckwith. The additions and enhancements to the program allow the original wisdom of The Science of Getting Rich to be more easily adopted by modern readers and are delivered in ways not possible before.

An integral part of the Secret SGR Program is a generous 2-tier affiliate program which acts a vehicle for creating wealth from sharing the training program. Every person who acquires the Secret SGR Program will automatically become an affiliate and be entitled to a comprehensive online marketing system to maximize the benefits of the affiliate program.

Contents

A digital MP3 player pre-loaded with 15-hours of content which means you will be totally immersed in the program immediately and constantly to ensure you affect the Law of Attraction to bring you wealth everyday! All this content comes packaged in a leather briefcase specially designed for the program. Finally, a very generous 2-tier affiliate system - an actual vehicle for you to build your wealth by sharing the program with others.

Pricing

The Secret SGR Program is priced at $1,995. Although the program is not cheap, it certainly represents great value.

Affiliate Program

To participate, you first need to purchase the Secret SGR Seminar online. Once you purchase the seminar program, you will automatically be registered as an affiliate. As an affiliate, for each referral you make, you will be paid $500! Yes, you heard right... $500! Now the most amazing part is that it is a two-tier system. When your affiliate makes referrals, you will also earn an ADDITIONAL $250 for each referral!

This simple affiliate program is illustrated below:

You Spend: $1,995. Tier-1 sales are: A = $500 and B = $500. Tier-2 sales are: A1 = $250, A2 = $250, B1 = $250, and B2 = $250. The total Income is $2,000

We will now examine a few scenarios to appreciate how much money can be made from this program:

Scenario 1 (poor)

In this scenario, we assume that a person can only sell 1 unit of the program every 3 months. We also assume that each of the affiliates only sells 1 unit a year. As you can see, these are very bleak and pessimistic scenarios.

Even so, as you can see, this affiliate will still make a net profit of $1,005 after taking into account of the $1,995 he paid for the program to become an affiliate. This represents a 50% return on investment! Not bad for a "pessimistic" scenario.

Sales Forecast By Total Units Sold Over 12 Months: The Initial Outlay is $1,995. The Tier-1 Affiliate Sales are $500 X 4 = $2,000. The Tier-2 Affiliate Sales are $250 X 4 = $1,000. The Total Income is $3,000. The Net Profit (50.37%) is $1,005.

Scenario 2 (average)

In this scenario, we assume that a person can only sell 1 unit of the program every month. We also assume that each of the tier-2 delivers the same result of selling 1 unit per month. This is considered and "average" outcome which is very realistic and achievable.

As you can see from the calculations below, this affiliate will end up making a net profit of $40,005 after taking into account of the $1,995 he paid for the program to become an affiliate. This represents a 2,005% return on investment!

Sales Forecast By Total Units Sold Over 12 Months: The Initial Outlay is $1,995. The Tier-1 Affiliate Sales are $500 X 12 = $ 6,000. The Tier-2 Affiliate Sales are $250 X 144 = $36,000. The Total Income is $42,000. The Net Profit (2005%) is $40,005.

Scenario 3 (good)

In this final scenario, we assume that a person can only sell 10 units of the program every month. We also assume that each of the tier-2 delivers half the result which is selling 5 units each month. This is considered a "good" outcome which is very realistic and achievable with concerted effort on the part of the affiliate.

As you can see from the calculations below, this affiliate will end up making a net profit of $1,858,005 after taking into account of the $1,995 he paid for the program to become an affiliate. This represents an amazing 93,133% return on investment!

Sales Forecast By Total Units Sold Over 12 Months: The Initial Outlay is $1,995. The Tier-1 Affiliate Sales are $500 X 120 = $60,000. The Tier-2 Affiliate Sales are $250 X 7,200 = $1,800,000. The Total Income is $1,860,000. The Net Profit (50.37%) is $1,858,005.

Conclusion

No matter how you look at the financial numbers, it is very clear that this program is an excellent vehicle for creating substantial financial returns for each affiliate who invests in the program. The question is, how will you take advantage of this program to create the level of returns you want?

Why Aren't You Doing This Yet? Learn How To Make Money Using Reseller Rights!

Reseller Rights are the absolute easiest way to make money online. But the problem most people have when starting out online, is the fact that THEY DON'T HAVE THEIR OWN PRODUCT! By using reseller rights products you can solve this problem. You are going to be reselling someone else's product and keeping 100% of the profit. That may sound crazy at first, but after I explain it to you, it will be easily understood.

To use reseller rights products to our advantage we must first understand them. To do this I'm going to demonstrate two examples. Exmaple 1, Timmy has written an ebook that he is marketing online. Timmy sales the ebook to Ervin for $50. End of the line. Example 2, Timmy has written an ebook that he is marketing online. Timmy sales the ebook to Ervin for $50 and passes "Master Reseller Rights" to him. Ervin then resells 10 copies of Timmy's book netting him $500 of pure profit. Which situation sounds better for Ervin? Now a few questions may arise. One is, why would Timmy want to pass "Reseller Rights" to Ervin? Another is, wouldn't Ervin's sales be cutting into Timmy's profits?

Ok, lets say Timmy's ebook is about buying your first home. Timmy devises a strategy that will earn he and his resellers maximum profit. Timmy's initial $50 ebook provides some quality information on buying your first home, however, he has the ebook set-up in such a way that the reader of the book may be left wanting more information. Timmy creates another product that he is selling for $150. He then promotes this bigger, more comprehensive product within his intial $50 ebook. Timmy has already established good rapport with the reader by providing them with quality information in the first ebook, so the reader will most likely purchase the $150 product. Timmy then provides all his readers with the option to resell his ebook. Timmy wins because his ebook will get distrubuted around the internet for him, bringing him more sales of the $150 product. Ervin and the other resellers will win because they have a quality product that is easy to resell netting them profits.

Ready to get started with Reseller Rights? Well it's going to require you to follow a four-step system for you to succeed. First you going to have to find quality reseller rights products. Secondly you are going to have to devise a marketing plan for these products. Thirdly you will have to set-up a website to market your products from. Finally, you will need to drive traffic to this website.

Making Money from Google Adsense

There is nothing more rewarding than receiving the check of hard earned money. You must have seen thousands upon thousands of online testimonies of how they 'got rich' from Google Adsense and how they make thousands per week. Some of these stories are not entirely false.

The main secret behind making money from Google Adwords/Adsense program is content. There is no shortcut. Content is the first step behind any successful money making website. Of course, there is SEO-ing, but content is what drives the potential customers to your site. How much you are willing to invest will determine how much you will make per month, but it is possible to make money without spending a dime.

First of all, you will need a website. Assuming your content will be purely textual (since Google spiders crawl on text/keywords), you may either get a domain and hosting or choose to post to a blog, or you could sign up for free ad-supported website. It is recommended that if you plan on making money from your website, you ought to get a website with your own domain name, after all, ad supported hosting defeats the purpose of your money making; plus, you want your website to appear as professional and less congested as possible.

Now that you have a website, the next step is getting content for your site, but we'll get to that at the end of this article.

Now that you have a domain name and a niche, you will have to sign up for the Google Adwords Program. Note that Google Adwords enables you to get paid for advertising and Google Adsense is when you will have to pay for advertising.

Now that you have your domain with efficient hosting, and your Adwords account, you will need to build your site. If you are already a site-creating guru, then you are a step ahead. If not, creating your content site is not purely throwing out HTML pages. Sooner or later, content is going to keep growing and you may either get an efficient content manager or get hired help.

Traffic makes the difference between you making money or you not getting a dime. In order to get traffic, you can either optimize your website or get traffic by spamming. Now, remember that spamming will not get you repeat visitors, and will give your business a very bad reputation, plus, spamming may cost your website not to be listed on search engines, and Google has the right, under the 'Terms and Conditions' to revoke your Adwords account. You definitely do not want to start from scratch.

Traffic can come by word of mouth and efficient SEO-ing. SEO is an enormously broad topic that ranges from content, link popularity, link exchanges, keywords, web description, etc., to website rankings and so on. In order to remain on the top of your niche, you will need to always want your customers coming back. In order to keep that traffic flowing, you will need to keep content coming fresh and keeping your site constantly optimized and up to date. You will need to be aware of most common spider crawling techniques and use it to your advantage.

Another most common made mistake in getting website content free and cheap is to copy other websites or repeat the same information (if you have more than one money-making site). This is a bad move! Search engines will see this duplicate content as spam and remove it from searched results. Also, if you copy and paste content that is not yours and/or of public domain you will be infringing copyright. Copyright infringement is a crime.

As far as content goes, you can hire help to write articles or you can conveniently buy articles in bulk. Bulk articles are normally distributed by renowned companies and usually are more cost-efficient. Bulk content is also good if you are thinking of expanding your site. A renowned company that can help you with content and marketing strategies is the Myrdhinn's Marketing Madness. There are thousands of articles in different niches and since it's from a trustworthy company, you can always return for new quality content.

http://www.myrdhinn.com/members/davidj/products.html

Remember that signing up for Google Adwords is free. If your website gets rejected at first, don't worry. Just build your site and re-apply. As long as your website is legitimate and is not an 'about-me' site, you are more than likely to get approved. Plus, having an Adwords account opens you to the Google community and you can increase your PageRank dramatically.

Good luck on your first check!

How To Design The Perfect Affiliate Marketing Website

It's widely accepted that to become a successful affiliate marketer, you need a website. If there's one thing the gurus all agree in, it's that to make serious money you need to have your own presence on the web.

Which is fine. To be an affiliate marketer, you need a website. Simple enough, right?

Well, not really. Because anybody with a basic knowledge of the internet, or even just the ability to follow instructions, can build a website. But only a few people ever become successful affiliate marketers.

And it's normally easy to see why when you visit the websites most people create.

The first thing to do is scrap any website you've received free as part of an affiliate marketing program. It might be the easy option, but it's the easy option being used by everyone else who's bought that program. Nobody ever got rich being exactly the same as several hundred other people. Free websites are obvious to build sales, you need a website you've created yourself.

First, you need to decide what contact to include. Get out a piece of paper, and draw a quick site map. You're going to need a start page, introducing yourself and the site. To make your site more than a collection of affiliate links, you're going to need some content. If you don't want to write it yourself, use article directories to find relevant articles you can use. This is important: sites without content aren't accepted into directories, aren't ranked highly by search engines, and don't attract repeat visitors.

And you'll need the tools of any affiliate marketer: affiliate links, an autoresponder form for collection e-mail addresses, and sales pitch for the products you're promoting.

Unless you're good at web design, get a free website template from somewhere. Google them. Choose one that looks professional, clean, neat, and easy to navigate. Try to choose it from a site that has a forum for asking help in, especially if you have little experience of HTML. It's also worth searching for a quick, free course in HTML. You're going to need some basic knowledge.

Your next task is to upload the content onto the site. The template will probably have spaces marked where you need to copy and paste text, or write in your own links. Another important thing to think about is images. Try searching a free image site for something relevant if you don't have any pictures of your own.

One important thing to consider is the placing of your affiliate links. You might want to devote a separate page to each product. You might also want to have a side-bar in which you link to and give brief descriptions of some of your best selling products. This is a good way of finding out what sales copy works and what doesn't: pay attention to which links achieve the most clicks.

Of course, it's important to remember that you are trying to make money. But, at the same time, remember that visitors don't want to constantly feel like you're trying to sell them something. If your site has genuine content that they find helpful, they're more likely to come to trust you and therefore more likely to follow your recommendations in future.

Another important thing to remember is to make your site search engine friendly. This is gone into in much more detail elsewhere by people more knowledgeable than I; just remember to use meta tags. Also make sure that the first paragraph on your main page contains important key words, as many search engines pay attention to this.

You should also consider having a page of links. This is important for link exchanges, which raise your search engine ranking and gain you some free traffic.

Finally, you need to make sure your website contains contact information not just for those who have a question about the products you are advertising, but also in case there is a problem with the site.

One of the best ways to get an idea of what your website should be like is to visit the websites of other affiliate marketers. You will see they can be quite different in style, depending on how that person chooses to market their product.

In the end, the most important thing to remember is that your website needs to be more that a collection of affiliate links and if you cannot see why, you will probably never become a successful affiliate marketer.

Your Ebook Internet Marketing Strategy - 7 Vital Components

Do not underestimate the importance of having a good ebook internet marketing strategy. It will make or break your success in terms of the number of copies your ebook sells, and the revenue and profit you ultimately receive from sales of your ebook.

With that in mind, here are eight vital components for your ebook internet marketing strategy.

1. Set up a Web Site

The first and most important weapon in your ebook marketing arsenal must be a web site containing a sales page for the ebook. This needs to be a page dedicated to information about your ebook only. It is even better if you set up a dedicated domain name and site for the ebook. Now that web hosting packages are available for just a few dollars a month, and you can get a package allowing unlimited sites in one package, I strongly recommend giving your ebook its very own site.

Your sales page should be well-designed and contain plenty of information about your ebook. This information should include features and benefits to the readers, and of course, testimonials from your satisfied customers. And if you expect to have credibility with potential customers, your sales page needs to be free of little errors.

2. Build Your Own Mailing List

If you dont already have a mailing list and your own newsletter, start one. You may already have heard that, on average, people need to see a marketing message seven times before they will take action and place an order. A newsletter is a great way to keep your message in front of your audience on a regular basis, and at the same time you will be building up their trust in you as they get to know you and the quality of your information.

You might send out a regular newsletter - for example monthly or weekly - or you can set up autoresponders to automatically send messages at specific intervals. An autoresponder can send a given message at a specified number of days after the subscriber signed up to your mailing list.

3. Sell Your Ebook Through ClickBank

Why use ClickBank? There are several reasons why I recommend that you consider selling your ebook through ClickBank.

First, ClickBank is a very experienced partner to have when selling an ebook. Thats what they specialize in. There are already 10,000 publishers and authors selling information products using their system. But there is something even more important than the number of publishers. Its the number of affiliates. ClickBank have an army of 100,000 affiliates ready to jump on your bandwagon and start promoting your hot new ebook.

Second, ClickBank has a neat payment processing system. If you use ClickBank you will not need to set up an expensive merchant account with your bank in order to accept credit cards online. Setting up a publisher account with ClickBank costs just $50 or so.

Finally, ClickBank works neatly in conjunction with your own web site and newsletter. You simply add the special links given to you by ClickBank into your newsletter and web site, and whenever anyone clicks through your order link, they will be taken to a professional order form where they can pay using their credit card or PayPal.

Whenever one of ClickBanks affiliates refers a visitor who goes on to make a purchase, ClickBank automatically tracks which affiliate referred the visitor and pays their commission.

4. Article Marketing

Article marketing involves writing articles and making them available for webmasters and editors to publish. The greatest exposure usually comes from listing the articles at article directories such as EzineArticles and IdeaMarketers. This allows anyone to publish the article without any fee to you, the author, provided they include your 'Author Resource Box' at the end of the article.

To promote an ebook successfully using article marketing you should write articles on topics closely related your ebook. Your author's resource box should be a small paragraph or two about you including a direct link to the web page for your ebook.

Besides being a good way to generate traffic, article marketing is a great technique for increasing your brand awareness. As people read your articles at various web sites they will begin to recognize you as an expert in your topic.

5. Pay Per Click Advertising

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is one of the quickest ways to drive traffic to your ebooks sales page. It is certainly not the cheapest source of traffic, but it is probably the most effective technique to guarantee a large quantity of traffic, fast.

With Pay Per Click advertising you bid the maximum price that you are willing to pay for each visitor that clicks on your listing and comes through to your site. The more you bid, the more likely your listing will show. Many webmasters obtain traffic for $0.05 to $0.15 per click.

One good thing about PPC advertising is that unlike other forms of advertising, you only pay for visitors who actually click through your link and visit your site. Compare that to traditional advertising where you pay a set price for the ad regardless of whether you receive any response.

6. Regular Advertising

Regular classified advertising is a form of advertising which is particularly common in newspapers and magazines. Many online ezines and email newsletters offer classified advertising spots. Advertising in these can be one of the best sources of targeted traffic, since you have the ability to select those newsletters with an audience that most closely resembles your own target audience.

If you know the email newsletter or mailing list is a very good match, consider sending a solo mailing. A solo mailing is a special mailing sent to all the subscribers containing only your message promoting your ebook. It will cost more than regular advertising within a newsletter, but youll get a much higher response rate.

And don't dismiss offline classified advertising. It is possible to run a classified advertisement in an offline publication such as a newspaper or carefully targeted magazine and get an excellent response of people checking out your ebook.

7. Profit Sharing

Consider approaching other web site owners and offering to allow them to sell your ebook directly from their web site. You should arrange in advance how the profit will be shared. I usually ask the other web site owner to pay me fifty percent of the revenue from my ebook sales. The web site owner usually loves it because they will have a new ebook to promote, and after they pay their own payment processing fees, they should still be able to keep 40 to 50 percent of the revenue.

There you have it. Seven proven ebook marketing techniques for promoting your ebook. You might not choose to use all seven, but you should be using at least five or six of these. Some of these techniques involve using third-party tools or resources. If you are interested in learning which resources are my favorites, I have some additional details on my web site. Blue Collar Comedy Tour (DVD) Review

Among all the comedies available today, the Blue Collar Comedy Tour ranks number one in the "must see" category. Few comedians can find an audience among a broad range of demographic groups, and with varying tastes among individuals, it's quite difficult to find universally entertaining people. But Blue Collar Comedy Tour showcases four stand-up comics of such ability. The stand-up routines are filmed in Phoenix with intermittent features on the exploits of each of the men as they travel the country on their popular comedy tour. Opening up with all four men fishing in a lake, amazingly even the conversations between these men are hilarious and entertaining. What then could we expect when they take the stage? Only the best of modern redneck, working man comedy.

One of the rising stars of stand-up, Ron White brandishes his liquor and tobacco drenched persona along with a loveable sarcasm to produce one of the better comic routines of the decade. White chronicles his 9-minute plane ride to Phoenix which almost ended in tragedy when the plane was forced to turn around in mid-flight due to equipment trouble. But the event didn't phase the alcohol-induced outlook of White who advises the passenger next to him (a man who has something to live for, unlike White) that if one engine goes out, the other will take them right to the scene of the crash. And to top it off, they'll beat the paramedics by thirty minutes.

White's act is well followed by Larry The Cable Guy, a redneck's redneck who lives by the catchphrase "Get 'r done!" Speaking in a redneck dialect that borders on another language, Larry The Cable Guy is a barrel of laughs for any American who loves apple pie. Providing unique insight into the world at large, his audience is presented with the great conundrum of the dog dish water purifier (among other things). Why should he buy a water purifier for an animal that eats its own crap? If you're unfamiliar with this guy's routine, you need to pick up a copy of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour DVD just for him alone (or for that matter - any of these comics merit a full-length DVD by themselves).

Beginning the second half of the movie is Bill Engvall, a comic who takes a more well-spoken, family man approach to his routine. I first saw Bill on The Tonight Show when I was ten years old. He delivered the best stand-up routine I've ever seen, and I still remember much of it word-for-word to this day Central to the routine was his trademark tagline "Here's your sign" (referring to a "stupid sign" handed out to people who make dumb remarks). Just like his colleague Jeff Foxworthy, Engvall has managed to keep that tagline not only going, but while inventing a hilarious treasure trove of new material. This guy is just plain funny.

Rounding out the final one-man routine is Jeff Foxworthy, perhaps the most famous of the crowd due to his widely promoted "you might be a redneck if" jokes. Foxworthy starts off with a standard routine that's really funny (this part of his career has been widely overlooked), but then he naturally moves into the part of the routine that people love to hear - the redneck jokes. My favorite of the whole Blue Collar Comedy Tour DVD is his line "If a beaver bites off your nipple, you might be a redneck". Based on a true story, you simply have to watch Blue Collar Comedy Tour in order to understand just how hilarious that one is.

But the funniest part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour DVD is when all the comics are finished with their individual routines and they gather together on stage to tell personal stories to the audience. Each story keeps the belly laughs rolling, and each comic has his moments, but Ron White steals this part of the show with his "tater salad" story. Recounting the story of his recent drunk in public arrest (he was actually drunk in the bar - they threw him into public), White tells the tale of his rise from a small town in Texas to a life replete with criminal aliases such "tater salad" and his fathering of a child named "tater tot". You just have to it to really enjoy it!

With a host of talented funnymen, the Blue Collar Comedy Tour DVD is grade-A entertainment. Certain to be an enduring classic for years to come, this is one comedy film you don't want to miss.

Nursing School Rankings

The US News & World Report and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Report on Research Funding conduct nursing school rankings to measure the status of quality of different nursing schools nationwide. Various factors affect how nursing school rankings are determined but it all serves the purpose of providing more information to anyone in search of a nursing school.

As you evaluate different leaning institutions for your nursing education, nursing school rankings should supplement your own research. First, determine which specific nursing program you wish to enter and then based on that look at nursing schools in your chosen location that offer that specific program. You can use nursing school rankings to find out the areas of strength of a particular school and if it matches your interest and needs.

In general, organizations determine nursing school rankings by gathering data through surveys that are prepared by professors and other scholars. Survey respondents can be present or past students or administrators and other high-ranking staff members of the nursing school. The survey contains both objective and subjective questions, and a complex method is used to process the answers. The statistics of the school are also one of the factors used to determine nursing school rankings.

For instance, the US News & World Report evaluates NLNAC (National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission) accredited nursing schools and their programs by surveying deans and other faculty staff members of each nursing school. The respondents will review and grade other schools based on a set of criteria. Some of the factors that affect nurse school rankings are student-to-faculty ratios, rate of job placement after graduation and etcetera.

Nursing school rankings from the National Institutes of Health focus on the overall amount of grant funding received by the research programs of individual nursing schools. Research institutions and those who would like to pursue research work consider NIH rankings to be strong indicators of outstanding research programs.

Nursing school rankings are just one tool to help you evaluate a nursing school. There are so many other factors to consider when choosing a school such as the quality of student life, cost, availability of financial assistance, board passing rates, affordable housing on or near campus, among others.

Be sure to look at the complete picture when making your decision. Get to know more about a certain nursing school by looking at the schools website, requesting for an information packet or going to the schools information session or open house.

Lessons from Legacy: Life by Design Part 2

Making the Best Choices

We are each the sum total of the choices we have made to date. If we want a new reality, we have to make new choices. After all, the very definition of insanity is to do the same thing always and expect a different result. When we change our actions, we change our results. A perfect case in point is my Godmother, famed Hollywood costumer Edith Head. At age thirty she was teaching French to an all girls school in California, and because she had studied a semester abroad in Europe the school assumed she could also teach art. She in fact couldn't draw more than stick figures but took on the task. While looking in the paper one day, she saw a contest for drawing costumes for one of the major movie studios.

She wanted a change in career and boldly without permission "borrowed" some of her student's sketches and entered the contest. She won! When showing up on the first day and being asked to draw, she was found out, but her courage and presumption so captivated the costume designer that he took her on. The rest is history including 8 Oscars for costume design over a 50-year career. She lived a life of her own design.

What have you not pursued because you didn't have the skill set or the connections? Can you learn it? Who can help you?

Living from the Heart

Life is in the living, not in the stuff. Stuff more often than not simply weighs us down and stands in our way. In order to move forward, to continue growing and changing, we must let things go. Those elements we keep with us must serve as inspiration and memories, not as baggage. What you bring forward is up to you. My mother, Anne Baxter, was an academy award winning actress to many. To me she was a single working parent, too often gone on location and on tour. But she taught valuable lessons. She knew from age seven that she wanted to act and pursued it with a singlemindedness that few of us possess for anything in our lives. At the same time she managed to write an autobiography about her life with my father, and was in the middle of the second one about her life growing up when she died. Mother lived each and every moment with passion, vigor, and commitment to her finest. She challenged us to do the same and instilled the value I describe here. She lived her life by her own design.

When Mother passed some 20+ years ago now, we each had only a file folder of mementos that she had kept (I have two sisters). This was such a gift rather than what I see so often with clients. They keep hordes of baby clothes, bronzed shoes, elementary school artwork projects most of us would soon forget, broken trophies from days gone by and too much more. Mother saved the best, the things that really counted to her and hence they mattered to us. What better gift. The most significant legacy she left was the memories of times spent together, not the stuff left behind. When you live from your heart and your mind, not by your hand and your purse, you will truly know that it is the connections and relationships that define us, not our possessions. He who dies with the most toys, still dies.

What are you hording in terms of stuff? How is it holding you back?

The Seven Deadly Sins of Small Business

Owners and executives must be leaders first and managers second. As leaders our task is first and foremost to be about doing the right things, and the seven deadly sins, should be on the top of your list as leadership issues you are dealing with on a regular basis. Building a small business is one of the most rewarding, but risky ventures one could possibly venture into. Most papers on small business deal primarily with financing and risk management, which are only symptoms of the real issues. Your bank account is just the scorecard of how well you have developed your leadership skills relative to accomplishing the right things.

This paper will help you avoid many of the costly pitfalls of operating a small business, assuming you heed the advice. Avoiding these pitfalls will in turn help you to conserve cash, develop market share, increase sales, improve customer loyalty, increase employee retention and build efficiencies into your operation.

The seven deadly sins include 1) Poor or non-existent business planning; 2) Lack of a strategic objective; 3) Lack of marketing strategies and tactics; 4) Management in the place of leadership; 5) Poor or non-existent systems; 6) Failure to utilize an appropriate leadership style; 7) Care and feeding of sacred cows. Business owners and executives who do not understand them, do not have experience with them and therefore do not appreciate their impact and significance often ignore these critical leadership issues.

Thirty-five years of building and operating small businesses has taught me that most small business problems are not money problems at all, and in fact money is just an indicator that much deeper issues are at play. Beware; the market is a wicked taskmaster, these seven deadly sins are like small doses of poison injected into your operation by the very marketplace you are trying to conquer, and they provide a slow painful death to the naive.

Here are the seven deadly sins in order of priority.

1) Poor Business Planning

Most small businesses do not have even a summary business plan, and of those that do, many are cookie cutter business plans built with the help of a piece of software. At a minimum a business plan should have an executive summary; a company overview with company history and its current status; the companies strategic objective; a description of the companies products and services; a list of the companies intellectual properties including patents, copyrights, trademarks, processes and know-how; a market analysis; a competitive analysis, which includes competitors and their market position, and their strengths and weaknesses; a marketing plan, which includes your marketing strategy, product strategy, sales strategy, and pricing strategy; your customer service plan; sales projections by product, in units, for at least three years; and finally a set of financials which include projected income and balance sheets with a Performa sales forecast.

Here are some other important suggestions and facts related to business planning:

Less than a third of small business startups have a business plan

A business plan does not have to be incredibly detailed for operational purposes

It should be a work in progress updated on a periodic basis

Particular attention should be paid to the marketing plan

A business plan is part of the first fifteen percent of the business development process which will assure the last eight-five percent will go smoothly

The executive summary should be written last, after the rest of the plan is in view.

2) Lack of Strategic Objectives

A business strategy is made up of carefully crafted words making up templates, which in turn act as filters through which all planning, tactics and decisions are passed through before implementation. A strategic objective is therefore, a business strategy developed to guide an organization in meeting business objectives. A strategic objective is developed from the owners vision, passion, core competencies and values for the business. Contact Emerald Business Services or go to our website for a worksheet you can use to develop these critical business development tools.

3) Lack of Marketing Strategies and Tactics

Marketing strategies govern the development of tactics, which in turn provide the actions items contained within your planning process. The most important aspect of your marketing plan is the development of promotion strategies and tactics, which feed your promotion planning and provide you with sales forecasting data. The promotion plan should also detail costs and anticipated unit volume so you can set priorities and provide sales forecasting data.

4) Management in the Place of Leadership

So why is leadership so important in growing a business? Because leadership is about doing the right things, management is about doing things right . In many ways, it is leadership that will grow your business from a sales and a stability perspective, and management that will make, or keep it profitable. Also, consider that the best companies focus ninety percent of their attention on external issues, not internally , leadership is primarily a focus on the external issues.

5) Poor or non-existent Systems

Most people think of computer systems when they hear the word system. But in the since it is used here it means all systems, including the system you use for selecting the right employee, for decision making within a department and so on. One of the more telling statistics in this area is the fact that ninety-four percent of all task or project failures are system failures2. Some of the more common reasons for system failure include:

Islands of automation verses integrated systems

Absent or non-existent policies, procedures and user manuals

Poor training.

6) Lack of Development of Leadership Style

Developing leadership ability has a lot to do with understanding the type of leadership required at different stages of your companys development. There are at least six different leadership styles identified to be effective at different stages of a companys development including; Visionary; Coaching; Affiliative; Democratic; Pacesetting; and Commanding . Understanding which leadership style to employ has been found to significantly increase the effectiveness, growth and heath of the companies in which leaders utilized multiple styles. Just as important is the understanding of what a leaders personal profile is. Armed with these vital bits of information a leader is equipped to pursue the right leadership style for the task at hand.

7) Care and Feeding of Sacred Cows

I do not have a statistic on the amount of money, time and energy expended on the sacred cows lurking in American businesses, but it has to be staggering. This list details some of the types of sacred cows you can look for in your business.

The way we have always done it

The product or service you keep pouring money into because you just know it will take off and be your future, (these are almost never accompanied by market research or even a promotional plan)

Resistance to growth through change

Idleness within the ranks, some experts believe ten percent of the poorest performing people should be let go each year to make room for people with fresh insights and ideas

The company airplane, automobiles, and other perks, which drain company recourses

The dead weight relatives and friends of the family who would be better off elsewhere, act as distractions, and add nothing to your bottom line

The expert that no one can live with, who holds a noose around the companies neck in the form of some expertise or an unwritten code of loyalty.

You could call this business 101, however, most of the issues developed in this paper are rarely taught in schools, much less heeded. These seven deadly sins can impede your companys ability to successfully navigate through the turbulent waters of business development. If you do not understand all the issues summarized in this paper, do the research; find a business advisor to help you navigate these storms , you owe it to yourself, your business and the people who count on you.

Conquering the devil in the details is what management is about, concurring the seven deadly sins of small business is what leadership is all about. The beauty of developing top-level leadership skills is that there is no downside, only opportunity for growth in both your business and your personal development. Leadership is what the entrepreneurial spirit is all about.

Develop your business plan, establish strategic objectives, establish marketing strategies and tactics, lead, build effective systems, utilize more than one leadership style and kill the sacred cows in your business, it might be the only thing that keeps you and your company from becoming another dreadful statistic.
